About This Pub
Ah, The Thistle Bar in Airdrie – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed get-together. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a real standout; folks are raving about the curry and chips or the fresh battered fish, all served up with generous portions at prices that won't break the bank. The staff come across as genuinely brilliant, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds to that cosy, welcoming feel. Weekends bring in some great entertainment too, so if you're up for a bit of fun, it's spot on. It's even dog-friendly, which is a nice touch if you're popping in with your pooch. On the flip side, though, there was that one review where things went a bit pear-shaped with an ordering error that led to a hefty bill – a real pity because the grub itself got high praise. Overall, it's got a solid 4.6 rating, so most visits seem to be winners, but I'd say keep an eye on what you're ordering to steer clear of any hiccups. If you're in Airdrie and fancy a pint with some decent nosh, give it a go – it's got that homely charm that makes you want to come back.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely brilliant – fresh, tasty dishes like curry and fish and chips that leave you wanting more, all at excellent prices.
-
The staff are top-notch, friendly and really attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere, especially with great entertainment on weekends, and it's dog-friendly too, with thoughtful touches like providing water for your furry friend.
-
Portion sizes are generous, and everything feels like good value for money, perfect for a casual outing.
Cons
-
There was that one off-putting experience where someone got charged double due to a mix-up with the menus, which could leave a sour taste if you're not careful.
-
With only a handful of reviews available, it might not have the buzz of busier spots, and the service can sometimes feel a bit rushed, like when staff disappear before sorting out the bill.

Brilliant food, excellent price and brilliant staff. Great entertainment at weekends as well. Brilliant pub.
Dog friendly in the pub garden supplied water as well, I got the curry and chips, really nice, my partner got the battered fish and chips with salad and gave 10/10 absolutely fresh white fish in a light crispy batter, just excellent will definitely be back and prices very reasonable, great barman/server to, thanks.
Great pub. Food was lovely, service was fab. Good portion size. Got different selection of meals and all were impressed. Will definitely be back.
Great food, great service and staff were all really nice. Good wee atmosphere. Will definitely go back
Beware when ordering. We thought we were ordering from the £6 lunch menu but the guy put it all through off the main menu and skedaddled before it was time to pay leaving the chef, who seemed to be doing everything, to charge us double the price. Pity because the food is really good. We will not be back.
