About This Pub
Ah, The Salt Box in Liverpool – what a gem for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with friends! From what I've gathered, it's got this inviting, homely charm that really shines through, with staff and locals going out of their way to make you feel welcome, like you're part of the gang from the moment you walk in. The drinks are spot on, offering a solid range at prices that won't break the bank, and it's brilliant for watching live sport on those big screens, whether it's footy, rugby, or the horses. But, let's be honest, it does have its downsides – things can get a tad overwhelming when it's buzzing with energy, what with the loud music drowning out the TV and queues forming at the bar, so if you're after a quiet evening, you might want to pick your timing carefully. Overall, it's a solid spot that does community pubs proud, blending that traditional British boozer feel with good value and a welcoming crowd, making it well worth a visit if you're in the area for a proper, no-fuss night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant – it's a proper welcoming spot with friendly staff and regulars that make you feel right at home, especially if you're popping in for a chat or to catch up with mates.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers and drinks at really reasonable prices, making it a top choice for a budget-friendly night out without skimping on quality.
-
It's surprisingly spacious inside, like stepping into a Tardis, with nice decor and giant TVs showing live sport, which is perfect for watching the footy or racing.
-
The pub has that classic old-school community vibe, full of life and a good mix of people, which adds to the fun and makes every visit feel lively and engaging.
Cons
-
It can get a bit too busy and noisy at times, especially on weekends, making it hard to hear the telly or have a proper conversation over the music and crowd.
-
Service might take a moment when it's packed, as the bar can get swamped, so you might end up waiting a tad longer than you'd like for your round.

Popped in after the Grand National for " one last drink". We had walked past the pub the previous night but had felt a bit wary about going in. How wrong we were. What a lovely, friendly pub. Thank you so much to Reg, staff & customers for your hospitality and making an amazing end to our Aintree experience. If you find yourself in Bootle / Seaforth...have a drink in The Saltbox.
A proper boozer good friendly service with a wide selection of beers. Friendly customers to give a warm welcome

Nice homely pub. Much bigger inside than it looks from the street. Nice decoration, good quality pint, very reasonable prices. I would recommend to others.
Just popped in for after meal drinks with gang of gals and couldn't believe this lovely, warm and welcoming pub. Proper old school, full of life and good mix of customers. Friendly, bright and clean. So surprised by the size - was like stepping into tardis!! Always thought it was just a tiny place! Brilliant x
