About This Pub
So, picture this: you're wandering along the North Promenade in Cleethorpes and fancy a bite at The Punch Bowl – it's got that cosy, unpretentious charm that makes you feel right at home from the get-go. The staff are genuinely warm and attentive, always up for a chat or to sort out any little hiccups, which really adds to the welcoming vibe. The food? Well, it's proper hearty fare – think delicious pies and mash or those Sunday dinners packed with flavour and plenty of meat, and it's spot on for families with kids' options that go down a treat. Plus, with prices that won't dent your wallet, and fun touches like a pool table to keep the energy up, it's a lovely place to unwind. On the downside, though, I've heard a few stories about waits that drag on a bit, leaving you twiddling your thumbs while others get served quicker, and sometimes the cooking doesn't quite hit the mark, like with ribs that are a tad fatty or steaks that end up more chewy than juicy. Still, overall, it's got a good heart to it, and if you're after a relaxed spot for a meal without the fuss, it's definitely worth checking out – just keep expectations realistic for the odd off day.

Staff are great. The chef John food was good and hot. I would stop for food again. The pie 🥧 and mash looked great. That's what my wife had. The kids' food was good to
Came in for a meal as part of a family outing. Ordered food for 2 adults and 3 kids. I had to chase food with staff twice for over a hour before food arrived when others that came in in this time period were served before us. Kids meals were great but the ribs were undercooked and very fatty and steak was over cooked we ordered medium rare. Then after had to chase for desserts for half hour.
Just picked up 3 Sunday dinners (Takeaway), 2 Beef & 1 Chicken . All three meals , lots of meat & beautiful. All Excellent, including great value for money and service.
Complements to the Chef. Thankyou.
Well we tried this place out for a roast and it was not bad at all......
So we returned valentine's day ordered 2 sirloin steaks, both steaks came out like leather flip flops something you would expect from a backstreet cafe.
I sent it back because the already cheap quality steak was ruined even more. I asked for no mushrooms as they make me sick and the owner/toy chef/ Adolf the atmosphere hoover approached me asking if I'm actually allergic and quite aggressively said well there grilled with the steak like I have no choice.
I was then presented with another low grade steak with no sear raw in the middle and cold in the middle bleeding all over the plate as clearly not been rested. I don't mind blue but the quality won't allow it to be enjoyable blue and I wanted medium, very disappointed that with 2 attempts at cooking a steak he still has no idea what he's doing, it wasn't even seasoned. Wow
The chips were anaemic as were the 3 onion rings which I had the joy of paying £14 for most expensive chips on the planet.
The peppercorn sauce was aslo a joke just like the owners attitude and cooking.skills.
Bar staff were lovely just one real problem the owner and him trying to cook.
Thankfully the lemon meringue was not touched by the owner and shop bought so we took a slice home.
Overall if you visit this place ask who's cooking before ordering. Do not order steak stick with a roast and completely swerve the place if the owners on the grill.
I'm a qualified chef so unfortunately for him he was cooking at the wrong time.
I would not recommend and I will not be wasting my money here again.

I also fell very comfy breastfeeding here and its a very relaxed atmosphere. Will be becoming our go to local for a bite to eat or a pint.
