About This Pub
Ah, The Magnet – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this cosy, community feel that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates or even a family meal. The food stands out as a real highlight; folks rave about the flavours and how generous the portions are, especially for something like their paninis or the Sunday carvery, which seems to be a new favourite and offers brilliant bang for your buck. Plus, the staff come across as genuinely welcoming, always ready with a smile and even treating your dog like part of the gang if you're out for a walk. It's managed well too, with new hands at the helm making positive changes that have folks coming back. On the flip side, though, there have been a few grumbles about things not being quite right – like one chap who waited ages for his steak and found the presentation a bit of a letdown, even if it tasted alright. Still, with most reviews glowing and a high overall rating, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just maybe keep an eye on the time if you're planning a meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out, balancing the charm of a local spot with those little improvements that keep it fresh.

They're super dog-friendly, which is a lovely touch if you're popping in with your furry friend.
-
Plenty of parking available, which is a real bonus when you're out and about in Castleford.
Cons
-
There can be long waits for food sometimes, like over an hour for a main course, which might put a dampener on your visit.
-
Presentation of the food isn't always up to scratch, even if it tastes good, which could make the meal feel a bit underwhelming.

Gave this pub a good review last time but have to review again.
The food this time was not good. No presentation at all. I had garlic breaded mushrooms which tasted good but presented terribly. I can cope with that.. my main was a sirloin steak which followed after over an hours wait!. It should have been medium rare but looked as though it had been braised or cooked for the hour plus I waited for it.. grey and horrible. The taste was ok and it was very tender.. I would not visit again
We are new to the area but spotted the Magnet promoting their Sunday carvery on fb.
It's a new venture for them but the food was delicious 😋 and such good value, we'll definitely be back. It has good parking too
I just went in for a bite to eat. Portion sizes for a small meal are incredible value for money. Great flavours too. Staff are polite and friendly. It's such a little gem of Castleford. Especially under it's new management. I recommend the panini and chips.
Called in here as a pit stop while visiting family and they couldn't of been more hospitable! Welcomed our two dog with open arms and even gave them so left over meat from the carvery for free!
The Magnet pub just recently hosted our Wedding day and night do on the 29/06/19.
The table placing and seat decoration was perfect.
The highered DJ was great!.
The food was beautiful and very generous, also you can take your own bits and bobs too for guests!.
All in all, can't complain at all, highly recommend, for social events 😁⛪🎉🎊🎂👗
