About This Pub
Ah, O'Malley's – it's one of those places that really warms you up on a chilly Aberdeen evening, you know? From the moment you step in, there's this inviting buzz with live music cranking up four days a week and loads of screens showing all the big games, making it ideal for a casual catch-up or a proper night out. The staff are an absolute delight, always chatting away and serving up quickly, which keeps things flowing nicely even when it's heaving. And the food? Well, it's a treat – their smashburgers, pizzas, and that Steak and Guinness pie are spot-on, all made with fresh local bits that give it a genuine homely feel. Plus, the Guinness is poured just right, and they've a smashing range of drinks to boot. But let's be fair, it's not all roses; the pints can sting a bit on the wallet, and the decor, with its overwhelming green tiles, feels more like a nod to the past than a true Irish hideaway, which might not sit well if you're after something more authentic. Still, it's a solid choice for a fun, relaxed vibe, and I'd say it's worth a visit for the good times and great company – just keep an eye on that tab!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is spot on for a proper Irish vibe, with live music playing four days a week and plenty of screens for catching all the live sports – it's brilliant for a night out with friends.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and super quick, even when things get busy, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming and efficient.
-
The food is a real highlight; think tasty NYC-style pizzas, smashburgers, and traditional pub grub like Steak and Guinness pie – all made with fresh, local ingredients that hit the spot.
-
Guinness is poured to perfection, fresh and dense, and they've got a cracking selection of beers, cocktails, and whiskeys to choose from.
-
It's a family-owned spot that brings a cosy, inclusive feel to the heart of Aberdeen, making it easy to pop in for a pint or stay for the craic.
Cons
-
Drinks can be a bit on the pricey side, like Guinness at £5.80 a pint, which might make you think twice if you're planning a long session.
-
The decor doesn't quite capture that authentic Irish pub charm – it feels a tad like a revamped Victorian train station with all the green tiling, which is clean but not as traditional as you'd hope.
-
It gets pretty packed at times, especially during events, so getting to the bar for another round can be a bit of a mission.
-
While the food and service are great, some might find the menu leans more towards American-style fare rather than pure Irish classics, which could disappoint if that's what you're after.

I ordered a gluten free burger with wings on deliveroo, not realising that the wings I chose would have crispy onions on that include gluten. Luckily, the people sorting my order not only realised this and decided against adding onions, but left me a note so I’d know they were safe to eat! Thank you so much, I’ll definitely be ordering again :)
This place is class was working in Aberdeen for the week was in this pub most nites for dinner and drinks to watch the football it has loads of screens so you can watch all the different games that are on. the food is amazing in here I had a burger and a steak pie people I was with had pizza spice bag and other stuff if I'm ever up in Aberdeen working again I will definitely be back in here
Great place to watch live sport and enjoy live music, very friendly staff and quick service. Guinness was also very good although a little pricey at £5.80 a pint but worth the premium! Would not hesitate to visit again. The double smash burger and wings were also very good!
Nice Irish-themed pub. Guinness on tap is fresh and dense. Food is American fare but who doesn’t love a Smash-burger? Staff are friendly and engaging saw it empty and rammed - they never skipped a beat.
Looks like a victorian train station toilet with an overwhelming amount of green tiling. However, it does feel fresh and clean, just not like an authentic Irish pub.
Staff are friendly and lightning fast which is good because if it's busy, getting to the bar can be difficult.
