★★★★★ **A Right Royal Treat!**
The King's Ransom is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere and fantastic service. The staff truly go above and beyond – attentive without being intrusive, and always ready with a recommendation.
The food is genuinely top-notch! Food cooked to perfection, hearty, and incredibly flavourful. And the ale selection? Superb! A great range of local and craft beers, all perfectly kept.
Whether you're looking for a relaxed pint, a delicious meal with friends, or just a friendly face, The King's Ransom delivers every time. It's quickly become our favourite local, and we can't recommend it highly enough. A true credit to Sale!
We recently visited this pub and were drawn in by a prominently displayed offer of 2 cocktails for £7. However, when we tried to order four cocktails, we were told the offer could not be honoured because “the tills had not been updated.” The manager stated they couldn’t serve 4 cocktails and only charge for 2, which seemed to go against the spirit (and letter) of the advertised promotion.
This felt misleading — the deal was clearly advertised, and at no point were we informed it was unavailable. Coincidentally, a wedding was being hosted at the venue that day, and it left the impression that the offer was being quietly disregarded due to the increased business. If this was the case, it would have been more honest to simply state that the offer was suspended for the event.
To add context, a close family member works at the same chain of pubs and confirmed that stock issues were unlikely to be the reason, as significant spirit waste is common during service. This makes the refusal even harder to understand.
We left feeling disappointed — not because of the cost, but because of the lack of transparency and professionalism. I hope management takes this feedback on board, as experiences like this can undermine trust.
To top it off, complaining resulted in a bouncer asking us to leave the premises! I recommend avoiding this establishment as there are many others close by that honour their promoted offers!
Didn’t have food this visit but last time I did it was 10/10, popped in for a quiet pint lovely pub and Thankyou Dave and cassie for the lovely service!
The restaurant pub is so clean and it had been all refurbished. The staff are amazing especially Mike. They can not do enough for their customers. Great choice of both good and drinks. The Christmas dinner was big and so amazing myself and my partner really enjoyed it. Such a busy time of year , however the staff were always happy to help. The tables were so pretty and decorated well for Christmas . I will absolutely visit again
I grew up on Hope Road in Sale in the 50s and 60s so it's a bit of a novelty to come here because this was the coal yard for the railway when I lived here! There is a lovely atmosphere, the food is very very nice, the staff are very welcoming and I won't hesitate to come here again! Mike especially liked the steak pie. I brought my two friends from Market Drayton, Mike and Lin, to show them where I grew up, and my old house on Hope Road.
