About This Pub
Ah, King George V – it's one of those places that really pulls you in with its promise of delicious Indian fare, and from what I've gathered, it often delivers on that front. Folks like Julie and Christopher have been raving about the curries, saying they're cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, which makes it a brilliant spot if you're in the mood for something hearty and authentic. The staff get a big thumbs up too; they're proper helpful, taking the time to adjust dishes to suit your preferences, which just makes the whole experience feel more personal and welcoming. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – SL mentioned how the loud R&B and garage tunes can turn a peaceful dinner into a bit of a racket, especially in what should be the quieter restaurant area. Then there's the odd complaint about some dishes not quite hitting the mark, like dry noodles or sauces with unexpected tastes that throw things off balance. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual night out with mates if you're after good food and a buzz, but you might want to pick a quieter time or keep expectations in check for the vibes – it's got that charm, but with a few rough edges that keep it real.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Indian cuisine here is absolutely spot on – think perfectly cooked curries that you can tailor to your taste, making it a real treat for food lovers.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to listen and make sure your meal is just right, which adds a warm touch to the visit.
-
There's a diverse menu with authentic flavours that hit the mark, offering simple yet satisfying choices without overwhelming you with options.
Cons
-
The music can be far too loud, even in the restaurant area, which might spoil a nice meal or make it hard to have a proper chat, especially on weekends.
-
Food quality can be hit or miss; some dishes, like certain noodles or sauces, have come across as dry, bland, or with odd tastes that don't quite land.
-
With a recent change in management, things feel a bit inconsistent, so you might not get the same experience every time you drop in.

Recent Reviews
Visited recently. There has been a change of management here recently. On entering venue is very noisy with loud music played not only in bar but also restaurant area which is a shame.
Appreciate was a weekend however why anyone would want to sit and eat a meal whilst R&B and garage music played at a level when you can't hear one another even when shouting is beyond me.
Didn't order food as a result.
Bar staff appeared to be new and struggled with till and card machine but where pleasent and approachable when ordering drinks.
Me and my partner called in here on a Saturday night and ate the most beautiful Indian cuisine. It was cooked to perfection and to our taste. We didn't want it too hot and had no problems whatsoever, as the chef listened to our concerns and made it beautiful. I'd never had the bread before called paratha and was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.
Came in with family, great place for curries. The meal felt authentic, spicy, but not overly spicy, and a great range of food was available. The menu was simple and easy, I didn't have to think about the different choices. Was nearly an hour after the bar officially opened, we didn't know if it was open or not until we actually opened the door, kinda reminded me of a sort of nightclub. I'm not sure if the tables were clean or as clean as they could have been. Napkins were sticking to the table and hard to pick up. Patches of the table felt a little sticky, too.

The Place: 9/10 🌟
Looked well maintained, the bar was looked after, and it seems welcoming as long as you get through the door first.

Amazing! I would happily eat here again. We were stuffed 😋

The Atmosphere: 5/10 🌟
Felt this could have been better, though it was an hour after the bar opened. Not many people in even while it was the afternoon.

The Cleanliness: 5/10 🌟
Tables were a little sticky in places, napkins were stuck to the table and hard to pick up cause of it.

Ordering food/drink: 6/10 🌟
Little weird to me that I have to order food from a separate till away from the bar.

Place to bring kids?
I'm not sure if I would. It seems more like a place where I would bring my mates for drinks and food. You can bring your kids if you want, but keep them towards the restaurant area and not close to the bar.
I recently dined at King George Restaurant in Birmingham and had an exceptional experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with a diverse menu that caters to all tastes. Every dish we tried was well-prepared and bursting with flavor. The service was equally impressive – the staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The ambiance of the restaurant is charming and comfortable, perfect for a relaxed meal. I highly recommend King George Restaurant for anyone looking for great food and top-notch service. We'll definitely be returning!
Unfortunately the food was not the same as it was before. The noodles were quite dry and bland less salt or less flavour.
The chicken Jalfrezi Naga style I got was thick with tomato sauce and had bits of ginger running to the sauce which gave it an unpleasant taste as it fell in every bite. They used to do Chicken thigh pieces before and now it’s breast.
Lacking flavour
