First time going for a roast dinner and couldn’t have been more impressed. Best roast in Guiseley along with a cracking playlist (muse, queens of the Stone Age, killers) kids menu spot on.
Soup & starter of garlic mushrooms with a poached egg 🔥
None of your microwave rubbish (a roast you look forward to seeing arrive at your table)
Will be back again
Went in for something to eat with my wife, ordered a couple of drinks and then ordered a Sausage and Mash and a Big Brew Burger. The food cost £24 and we waited for just short of a hour for the food to arrive. That's fine, I'm always happy to wait for freshly cooked food, but when the food arrived the chips and onion rings were stone cold with the burger not that much warmer. It was the same with my wife's sausage and mash, sausages luke warm, Yorkshire pudding and mash cold. The waitress came back with our next round of drinks and we told her the food was cold. She asked if we wanted it re-heated to which we said, no, we'd like our money back...we were hungry and didn't feel like waiting for another hour for freshly cooked meals and at £24 we didn't want it re-heated. She then said she would ask the manager to come and speak to us and he came over a few minutes later. He apologised and said they had a problem with the alarm system that told the staff when the food was ready to be brought to the table. So basically the food had been sitting somewhere for long enough to go cold before it was brought to us. The manager asked what he could do to rectify the situation, we said we would like a refund for the food. He said instead of a refund he could give us the same value of the meal in drinks but as we were still hungry and now going to go somewhere else for food, we declined and asked for the refund. He came back with the card reader for me to scan my phone for the refund, he printed me a receipt but no refund came into my account. I said, the refund hadn't come in and he said it takes 3 days! I wasn't happy about this, I 'd already spent £36.55 on 2 drinks and 2 cold meals, with another £12.55 still to pay for the other 2 drinks and was going to be leaving hungry without getting my money back for the food we hadn't eaten. He said this was standard practice so I said that the least he could do was to give us the second round of drinks for free. But he refused and said we had to pay for the drinks and that he'd done everything possible to make the situation right. I paid for the drinks but now wish I'd said I would come back in 3 days and pay for them once I'd had my refund. Suffice to say we will not be going back and based on our experience we wouldn't recommend it for anyone going for something to eat in Guiseley, there are far better options elsewhere where customers are treated properly.
Been in a few times recently and always found the staff to be pleasant, the beer to be good and fairly priced (better on happy hour obviously) I can't comment on the food personally as I have not eaten, but have seen a few dishes go out and they look good.
Atmosphere only 4 stars because it was rather quiet when I went in but imagine it would be great if there were a few more people in. (I tend to go out during the quieter part of the day anyway)
Went in a few of weeks ago. Great service and quality beer. I ordered Kiwi and it was honestly one of the best beers I've ever tasted.
Anyway, came in very recently. That Kiwi was off and had been replaced. Obviously a high turnover of beer options. Not to worry I thought as I tried an alternative. It was Juice Forsyth and tasted unusual. Great name though.
Not enough to warrant complaining, but there was nothing in it as described in the description. There was an element of fruit gone off in the flavour. A bitter, vinegary taste. Potentially worth a second attempt as it tasted like I'd drank the dregs in the pipes from the previous night, however this was a busy weekend evening... Anyway, interestingly, not many people were there which isn't a good sign. Basically just a couple of locals at the bar chewing the bar staffs ears off. Whilst being served the beer the locals were having a good chat with the bar tender and pointing at and almost touching my pint which was weird, laughing and joking and pointing at it. The server was laughing along with them. Anyway, tasted it and it tasted poor. Probably why they were laughing.
Heard they stopped food too which is fine by me, as before the place was packed with old couples smashing posh sausage and mash. Now that's off the table they should really nail the beer at a minimum to keep custom and gain status of a pub that really looks after it's beer.
Summary, came in once and it was spot on. Came in a few week later and it was bad. Hence 3 stars. Was hoping to love this place after my first experience after the takeover as that Kiwi was honestly great quality, taste and temperature.
Etc etc. In summary summary.. Overpriced for the hit/miss quality and service. Also worrying how quiet it is at weekends compared to a few month ago. Used to be thriving. I prefer that it's not overly busy btw, but when you come in for a ~£5 pint of cask, it HAS to be decent, not Just OK.
Our favourite local is now absolutely back to its best since the takeover by Brew York. A fantastic range of top quality cask ales and selection of keg ales, lagers, cider and stout. The Tonkoko milk stout is just a taste sensation!!
And since the recent introduction of food by Nikos Comfort Kitchen it has just gone up another level! The food is truly amazing!!!
Warm, friendly, professional staff and a great mix of locals. Love this place!!
