About This Pub
Ah, the Cambridge Tap – what a charming spot it is, tucked away in Cambridge and once a bank, now a buzzing pub that's part of the McMullen family. I have to say, it's one of those places that really hits the mark for a good night out; the burgers are fresh, tender, and served in a buttery brioche bun, paired with tasty sides like wings and dirty fries that make sharing a laugh over food an absolute treat. The cocktails are handmade and spot on, with a solid selection of wines and beers to suit all tastes, and it's brilliant to see vegan and vegetarian options making everyone feel included. The staff are just lovely, always polite and quick to help, whether it's sorting out allergies or recommending a drink. With two floors, it's got plenty of room for groups or even private hires for birthdays, and being dog-friendly and accessible adds to that inclusive feel. On the downside, if you're hoping for a peaceful evening, trivia nights can crank up the volume a bit, and some puddings might be a touch too sugary for those with a sweeter tooth than most. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meet-up or a cheeky cocktail; I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area – you won't be disappointed!
Pros and Cons
Pros

The food is absolutely spot on, especially those unique burgers and dirty fries that are fresh and tender – perfect for a casual bite with mates.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with dietary needs or recommendations, making you feel right at home.
-
It's got heaps of space with two floors, ideal for groups or if you fancy a bit of privacy upstairs for events or meetings.
-
Dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, so it's welcoming for everyone, whether you're popping in with your furry friend or need easy access.
-
A great range of drinks including handmade cocktails, vegan wines, and craft beers, plus plenty of vegetarian options on the menu.
Cons
-
It can get a bit noisy during trivia nights or busy times, which might not suit if you're after a quiet chat.
-
Some desserts, like the cookie one, might be a tad too sweet with extra sprinkles, so it's worth keeping in mind if you prefer things more subtle.
-
While the overall vibe is great, it might feel a smidge pricey for everyday visits, though the quality makes it worthwhile for special occasions.

Trivia night so had a loud speaker the while time, but that's trivia night for you.
Service was good. Cookie dessert was good, a bit too much sprinkles and sugar for my liking. 2 floors so lots of space
They have Vegan Wine! Haven't tried the food but there seems to be certain options. It's lovely decorated.
Went for a quick bite when out shopping. The pub wasn't too busy, the food was delicious and came out quickly. There was a nice selection of burgers on the menu and most of them could also be ordered in a vegetarian version. The staff was friendly and polite. Happy with the service, food and prices. Good location 👌
I've frequented this bar several times and consistently enjoyed their expertly crafted cocktails, priced at a reasonable 2 4 £14 until 8 pm on Fridays. The addition of fresh fruit, even in the water, adds a delightful touch. The spacious seating, both downstairs and upstairs, has made finding a table a breeze.
However, my dining experience left something to be desired. We opted for two types of chicken wings and buttermilk chicken strips, priced at £8.25 each for four wings per dish. While the wings were sizable, they were mostly bone, and the chicken strips were overdone to the point of being burnt. Spending £24 on these dishes and still feeling hungry was disappointing, making it less favourable in terms of value for money.
Despite this, I'd recommend considering their all-you-can-eat wing special on Wednesdays if you're a wing enthusiast. Overall, the bar's ambience and cocktails are noteworthy, but improvements to the food quality would enhance the overall experience.
We decided to give it a go here after not finding a place to have dinner. The place looked decent and tidy. We were greeted at the entrance by a very friendly staff who helped us regarding my girlfriends intolerances. Once seated we enjoyed the atmosphere while waiting for the food. I got a hamburger with maple syrup and bacon and my girlfriend had fish and chips. We received frickles as a substitute for the mushy peas and we loved it! Wow, that was something new for us. Loved those battered fried gherkins! The prices are fair and the services great! Would recommend anyone to try it and convince yourselves. Definitely you won't regret it. With the next occasion we won't hesitate to re-pay them a visit.
Many thanks to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable!
