About This Pub

You know, when I think about BrewDog Carlisle, it just feels like one of those places you'd want to pop into with mates for a proper good time. They've nailed the beer side of things – imagine 26 taps full of everything from bold IPAs to smooth stouts and even some international guests that keep it fresh and exciting. Pair that with the staff, who are always so chatty and clued up, making you feel right at home from the get-go. The food's a winner too; those sourdough pizzas and new additions like melts and subs are spot on for a casual bite, and it's all reasonably priced. Plus, being slap bang near the train station means it's super handy for a quick stop-off. On the flip side, I've heard a couple of tales about the toilets being in a right state, which is a bit of a shame and could spoil the atmosphere if you're not prepared. All in all, it's a solid choice for us beer enthusiasts, but maybe keep an eye out for those little issues to make sure your visit goes swimmingly.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of craft beers on tap, with 26 lines pouring BrewDog favourites and guest brews from around the globe – it's a real treat for any beer lover.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always up for a chat and making sure you're well looked after, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
  • Tasty food options like handcrafted sourdough pizzas, new melts and subs, and snacks such as chips and dip – perfect for pairing with a pint without breaking the bank.
  • Brilliant location just seconds from the train station, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a journey or grab a quick drink before heading out.
Cons
  • Some feedback mentions unhygienic toilets, which could put a bit of a downer on things and might need sorting out for a fully enjoyable visit.
  • There are occasional inconsistencies in the experience, like one account of a stale smell upon arrival, so it might not always hit the mark.

Went out for a few drinks with my other half and felt very welcomed and well looked after especially by a lady called Roma she knows her job very well and always made sure we were happy and seen to! We never got food as had already eaten but we both enjoyed our night out and will definitely be returning! Thank you ti the staff and especially Roma!

Love this place! Always a great vibe here, but the bar staff are what really make it. Super friendly, chatty, and they actually know their stuff when it comes to the beers. You can tell they enjoy being there, and it makes the whole experience way better. Always feel welcome. Top spot for a pint (or a few)!

We booked a table, in advance, for food and drinks and first impressions as we arrived at the bar was the stench of stale urine whilst ordering but didn’t think too much of it. But after a beer or two I needed the loo and oh my God; the state of the toilet was unbearable, in my personal opinion. There was not a single urinal available - all were covered up. I assume the wet floor was urine give the smell. When ordering our drinks at the bar, we were advised that despite our booking being 4pm, food would not be available until at least 4:30pm. Food was ok, drinks were ok. But that’s about as good as it got I’m afraid. Having been to several BrewDog locations, nothing has come close to the experience at DogTap Ellon. If I’m honest, everywhere else just seems to be sub-par. Carlisle - definitely wasn’t it. I think if this was someone’s first BrewDog visit, it would also be their last. The whole time we sat at our table (2 hours) no one collected a single empty glass or our finished food. Definitely not a great experience. Bearing in mind the bar was practically empty the whole time, I can’t find a reason as to why this wasn’t attended to.

Needed to tick off Brewdog Carlisle as part of my beer visa passport, number 89. I arrived shortly after opening and and it wasn’t too busy……. Initial thought’s, a great space! Plenty on offer at the pumps and in cans. Food wise, pizza’s are the order of the day and David kept serving them up as the bar ramped up ahead of the six nations game. Also available, two pool tables which I believe are free, but I could be wrong. Shame Northern Rail cancelled my train and I ended up catching an earlier one, truly great spot and great service!

In Carlisle you can’t find much craft beer but thanks to Brewdog for saving my life because they always offer the great variety of craft beers their own brew as well as the guest breweries. Still the prices are very pocket friendly compared to other places around. The staff are really friendly and helpful to choose a drink for you incase if you don’t know much. Big seating area and there's even pool tables. Perfect for party and have great fun. Really recommend if you around in area.
